All faculty and graduate students are welcome to join a discussion about the Catholic idea of religious freedom (particularly as expressed in Vatican II’s Declaration on Religious Freedom) and its relationship to the American tradition. Can we reconcile Dignitatis Humanae and the legacy of First Amendment interpretations?
Joining the conversation will be:
- Daniel Philpott, associate professor of political science and peace studies
- Phillip Muñoz, Tocqueville Associate Professor of Religion and Public Life
- Richard Garnett, professor of law
Sponsored by the Mellon-ISLA Workshop “Religious Freedoms, Modern Contexts”
