Conference: Remembering the Troubles: Commemorating, Constructing, and Contesting the Recent Past in Northern Ireland

Location: TBD

“Collective memory” or remembrance is a burgeoning field of historical study—not least in Ireland—and most palpably in post-Troubles Northern Ireland. Speakers from Ireland, Britain, and the United States will discuss the many forms that remembering takes, from public commemoration to judicial inquiry, by way of wall murals, novels, and individual memoir.
