This program will feature solo cello suites written by three prominent 20th century composers: Max Reger, Ernest Bloch, and Benjamin Britten. Each composer has incorporated his own distinctive style to a genre that originated with the Six Solo Cello Suites written by Johann Sebastian Bach in the 18th century.
Karen Buranskas, associate professor of music, is a critically acclaimed soloist who has performed throughout the United States and Europe, as well as in Brazil and Japan. She received a Performer’s Certificate and Bachelor of Music degree from Indiana University, where she was a student of Janos Starker and Fritz Magg.
