Scott Weidler, associate director for worship and music, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA)

Weidler has served in his position since 1995. He is ELCA liaison to the national board of the Leadership Program for Musicians, a cooperative program between the ELCA and the Episcopal Church, as well as having served on the boards of the Institute of Liturgical Studies at Valparaiso University and the Lutheran Music Program. He is also cantor at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Chicago. Prior to his current positions, Weidler served congregations in Pennsylvania, New York, and Florida in various music and teaching positions, in addition to 12 summers with the Lutheran Music Program and six years of teaching at the Lebanon Valley College Church Music Institute (Annville, Penn.). He has earned degrees in education, music, and liturgy from Concordia College (Seward, Nebraska), Wittenberg University (Springfield, Ohio), and the University of Notre Dame. He resides in the Rogers Park neighborhood on Chicago’s north side with his partner, Zia Ahmad.
