First Year Orientation: Academic Exploration Session

The Academic Exploration Session for the College of Arts and Letters is a chance for first-year students and their families to learn about the many courses of study and special programs offered by the College of Arts and Letters. Faculty representing each academic department, center, and institute within the College will be available to answer questions. The College of Arts and Letters at Notre Dame offers one of the finest liberal arts educations in the nation, shaped by the teaching and research expertise of its distinguished faculty. With more than 100 majors and minors in the undergraduate program, students are encouraged to pursue their intellectual passions in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. The event includes: * The Liberal Arts—Notre Dame and Beyond All first-year students and their families are invited to this brief welcome from Dean John T. McGreevy. * Alumni Panel Hear from recent graduates about how they are using their liberal arts education to pursue careers in business, higher education, and nonprofit organizations. * Q & A for Students Only Want to hear the “real” story about academic life in the College? This your chance to talk with current students, so bring questions—but no parents. * Meet the Department Faculty Faculty from all 20 of the College’s academic departments will be on hand to talk about the majors, minors, and special programs available. * Short videos about the college, special programs, and academic departments will be showing in the auditorium and on monitors throughout the atrium during the entire open house.
