Danielle Joyner, assistant professor of art history, University of Notre Dame
Professor Joyner’s current research focuses on how aspects of time, an intangible phenomenon, are given shape and form in different genres of manuscript imagery. She is examining the twelfth-century Hortus Deliciarum, a manuscript made for the female community of canonnesses at Hohenbourg, and draws from, among others, astronomical, biblical, calendrical, and classical visual and textual traditions.
Twice each semester, a Medieval Institute faculty member or advanced graduate student presents his or her research for collegial discussion in the Medieval Institute Research Colloquium series.
