Deborah Tor, assistant professor of history
Professor Tor earned her Ph.D. from Harvard University in 2002 and taught formerly at Bar-Ilan University (Israel) before coming to Notre Dame in 2010. Her research focuses on medieval Islamic history, specializing in the ’Abbasid Caliphate (8th–13th centuries) and particularly in the Persianate dynasties of the 9th–12th centuries.
Twice each semester, a Medieval Institute faculty member or advanced graduate student presents his or her research for collegial discussion in the Medieval Institute Research Colloquium series.
