Book Reading: Native American Author Eddie Chuculate

Location: Hammes Notre Dame Bookstore

O. Henry Prize Winner Eddie Chuculate will read from his debut collection, Cheyenne Madonna. The collection features interconnected short stories about Jordan Coolwater—boy, outlaw, developing artist, father. Jordan Coolwater is a youngster who fishes and shoots turtles in the summer, living with his grandparents on Creek Indian land in the house of his great-great-grandfather, a Trail of Tears survivor. With humor and pathos, Chuculate narrates Coolwater’s journey as he leaves Oklahoma and goes west to become a sculptor, struggling all the while with the two constants in his life: alcohol and his art.
