-

Location: McKenna Hall, 112–114

Gina M. Pérez, associate professor of Latina/o studies in the Comparative American Studies Program at Oberlin College

Associate Professor Perez has been involved in ongoing research on Latina/o youth, JROTC, and militarism in Chicago and Northeast Ohio. Her new project is an ethnographic study of the experiences of Latina/o youth in JROTC in a high school in Northeast Ohio. She is particularly interested in the ways that culture, gender, and the local political economy shape a range of choices regarding JROTC and the military more broadly.

This lecture is one of the Introducing Latino Scholars Series which is sponsored by ISLA and the Henkels Lectures. The Latino Scholars Series has a dual purpose: to introduce Latino Studies scholars to the Notre Dame community and to introduce our campus to new and emerging experts in the field of Latino Studies.
