Opera Notre Dame presents Offenbach’s final masterpiece, The Tales of Hoffman. The composer put all his melodic gifts to use in his examination of an artist’s “outsider” role in society and the ultimate cost of true talent. The production (sung in the original French with English subtitles) features recently discovered music alongside some of the most famous melodies in all opera, including the immortal Barcarolle.
