2010 Student Peace Conference: “Invest in Peace: Uncovering the Practicality of Peacebuilding”

Location: Hesburgh Center for International Studies

The University of Notre Dame’s annual Student Peace Conference will take place on March 26-27, 2010, at the Hesburgh Center for International Studies. This free conference is officially sponsored by the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies and is planned and directed entirely by the undergraduate peace studies students of the university.

Every year the conference unites undergraduate and graduate students from universities and colleges across the United States, and abroad, with a spirit of peace, a desire to see a change in the world, and a commitment to a rigorous, multi-disciplinary academic program focused on building international peace.

This year’s theme, “Invest in Peace: Uncovering the Practicality of Peacebuilding,” is focused on giving attendees a tangible grasp on peacebuilding in the world. By highlighting the effect of implementable policies for peace and the role that scholar-practitioners can play in promoting peace, we can discover how to make changes on the global scale. John Prendergast, founder of the Enough Project, will serve as the opening keynote speaker of the conference.
