We are delighted to invite you to the upcoming Shaw Scholar Series talk featuring Dr. Matthew D. Lerner on April 16th.

Dr. Lerner is an Associate Professor and Leader of the Life Course Outcomes Program Area at the AJ Drexel Autism Institute. His research focuses on the real-world implications of social challenges in autistic individuals and the development of evidence-based approaches to address them.

Presentation Overview:

In this talk, Dr. Lerner will introduce an emerging perspective on social outcomes that leverages qualitative community feedback to advance empirical and policy-level results. He will demonstrate a three-pronged research program designed to:

  1. Interrogate assumptions regarding social outcomes.

  2. Translate findings into responsive intervention models.

  3. Catalyze community-based change.

Attendees will also discover the construct of neurodiversity-affirming interventions and how they fit into the evidence base for social competence in ASD.
