The Medieval Seminar presents a lecture from Dr. Basil Arnould Price, "Broken Intimacies: Trans Masculinities, Old Norse Studies and Disappointment"

Dr. Basil Arnould Price imagines better futures by looking to those aspects of the premodern past that leave us discomforted, discontented, and dissatisfied. Trained as an interdisciplinary medievalist, his present teaching and research focuses on negative affects, political expression, race-making, and trans* or queer embodiment in Old English and Old Norse sources. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Queer and Medieval Literature in the Department of English at the State University of New York, Oneonta.

Graduate Student Workshop to follow on Friday September 5th from 12:00-1:00pm, "Doing Medieval Studies with Critical Theory/Doing Critical Theory with Medieval Studies" in 235 Decio Faculty Hall.
