Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival: The Winter's Tale

-

Location: Patricia George Decio Theatre, DeBartolo Performing Arts Center

Shakespeare at Notre Dame presents The Winter’s Tale.

August 18–30, 2015

Accused of adultery by her royal husband, Queen Hermione dies in shame. Her newborn daughter is cast away on a distant, deserted shore. Sixteen years pass and a poor shepherd girl falls in love with a prince. Their forbidden love, her mysterious birth, and one magical statue promise stunning revelations for all. Shakespeare’s late masterpiece weaves music, magic, faith, country dances, bear attacks, shipwrecks, courtroom dramas, and fierce jealousy into a romantic fairy tale that asks: what trials can love endure?

Directing The Winter’s Tale is Drew Fracher, a 25-year veteran of regional theatres throughout the U.S., including Actors Theatre of Louisville, the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, and Cincinnati Shakespeare Company. Drew has also served as fight director for more than 250 professional productions, including the Tony Award-winning revival of Company on Broadway.
