Graduate Student Summer Research Stipend Grants

Summer graduate research stipends of $3,600 are available to graduate students in the College of Arts and Letters who propose to work with a faculty mentor in research-related activities.

Teaching Grants and Fellowships

  • Graduate Teaching Fellowships: Graduate Teaching Fellowships support Ph.D. candidates in the College of Arts and Letters who teach a First Year Composition course and one lower level course in their department. To learn more, please visit: http://www.nd.edu/~fwriting/fyc/graduate-fellowships/
  • Kaneb Pre-Doctoral Fellowship Program: The Kaneb Center and Graduate School provide advanced graduate students in English and History with a mentored research and teaching experience at a nationally ranked liberal arts college or research university.   • Postdoctoral Fellowship Programs: The Edward Sorin Postdoctoral Fellowship program provides two years of support in order for scholars to develop teaching experience and demonstrate research productivity before they compete in the academic job market.

Travel Grants

  • The Downes Travel Grant defrays the travel expenses of graduate students attending workshops, seminars, and short courses.
  • The Zahm Travel Grant partially subsidizes expenses incurred by travel directly related to research and scholarly effort.
  • The GSU Gordon Conference Presentation Grant Program (formerly the Travel Grant) is offered through the Graduate Student Union. It provides supplemental funding for attending professional conferences during one's graduate career at Notre Dame and is designed to partially reiumburse expenses incurred during travel to conferences related to the student's major field of study.
