University Libraries

Twelve (12) University libraries house a collection of over 2 million volumes, 2.5 million microform units and 22,600 serials. Notre Dame boasts an impressive rare books collection consisting of some 80,000 volumes, which cover a broad spectrum of subjects.

The collection's strengths are Roman Catholic Church history, liturgy, law, and theology; English and American literature; Irish studies; and more generally art, architecture, and science. Imprints range from 1460 to the present.

Office of Research

The Office of Research helps faculty members University-wide obtain and manage the funding they need to support their research and scholarship. It empowers faculty to participate in the creation of knowledge, the scholarly distribution and promotion of it, and when possible, its transfer to the marketplace.

Arts and Letters Centers

  • The Center for Creative Computing (CCC) provides leadership and resources to support digital technologies in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. Individual faculty members, teams of faculty, or faculty-student teams may apply for grants.
  • The Language Resource Center (LRC) provides a variety of resources to support language learning at Notre Dame.
