Research Profile
Carbonaro focuses on education and social stratification. His research examines: (1) how learning opportunities and student effort affect academic outcomes, and (2) how occupational and labor market characteristics affect the skills-earnings relationship. He has published articles in leading sociology (American Sociological Review, Sociology of Education, Social Forces) and education (American Educational Research Journal) journals. In 2003-4, he was awarded a National Academy of Education post-doctoral fellowship for his research on racial/ethnic differences in college completion.
