Research Profile

Boes's research focuses on comparative approaches to the study of the novel and on modernist culture, especially that of Weimar Germany. Secondary interests include German intellectual history and psychoanalytical theory. He is currently working on a book project with the tentative title Rhythms of Experience: the Bildungsroman as a Metahistorical Genre. He has published articles on authors ranging from Goethe to Joyce and is the recipient of the 2007 A. Owen Aldridge Essay Prize of the American Comparative Literature Association.
