Research Profile
Boes's research focuses on comparative approaches to the study of the novel and on modernist culture, especially that of Weimar Germany. Secondary interests include German intellectual history, opera as literature, and humanities computing. He is currently working on a book titled Children of Their Times: the Bildungsroman as a Cosmopolitan Genre. He has published articles in journals such as PMLA, ELH, and Comparative Literature Studies and is the author of the essay on "German Modernism" in the forthcoming Cambridge Companion to European Modernisms. He was the recipient of the 2007 A. Owen Aldridge Essay Prize of the American Comparative Literature Association.
