Research Profile

Youens' major area of interest is 19th-century German song. Her most recent books, all from Cambridge University Press are: Schubert's Late Lieder: Beyond the Song Cycles (2002); Hugo Wolf and his Morike Songs (2000); Schubert, Muller, and Die schone Mullerin (1997); Schubert's poets and the making of lieder (1996). Major grants Youens has received are four NEH Fellowships, one Guggenheim Fellowship, and one National Humanities Center Fellowship.
