Research Profile
White is a social and material culture historian of 17th and 18th century America with a focus on French colonial Louisiana. She is currently completing a monograph titled "Trading Looks: Frenchification and Creolization in French Louisiana and the Mississippi Valley, 1673-1769." This project explores the cultural and economic ramifications of goods, specifically clothing, in managing gender, 'race', class and ethnic encounters in a colonial context. White has published in journals such as The William and Mary Quarterly and Gender and History, and she has edited a special issue of Fashion Theory on dress & gender.Contact Information
