Research Profile

Scott Mainwaring is Eugene Conley Professor of Political Science and Director of the Kellogg Institute for International Studies. He has taught at Notre Dame since 1983. He previously served as Chair of the Department of Government and International Studies (1996-97). His books since 1999 include The Crisis of Democratic Representation in the Andes (Stanford University Press, 2006, coedited); The Third Wave of Democratization in Latin America: Advances and Setbacks (Cambridge University Press, 2005, coedited); Democratic Accountability in Latin America (Oxford University Press, coedited, 2003); Christian Democracy in Latin America (Stanford University Press, coedited, 2003); and Rethinking Party Systems in the Third Wave of Democratization: The Case of Brazil (Stanford University Press, 1999).
