Research Profile
Susan Cannon Harris received her Ph.D from the University of Texas at Austin in 1998. Since then she has been a professor in the Department of English and the Keough-Naughton Institute for Irish Studies at Notre Dame. Harris's first book, Gender and Modern Irish Drama, was published by Indiana University Press in September 2002. She has also published articles in PMLA, Theatre Journal, Eire-Ireland, Genders, the James Joyce Quarterly, and Modern Drama. She is currently at work on a project about twentieth century Irish drama and the transformation of theatrical realism. Her article "Red Star vs. Green Goddess: Sean O'Casey's The Star Turns Red and the Politics of Form" recently appeared in a special issue of the Princeton University Library Quarterly. In addition to Irish drama, Harris's teaching interests include British and American drama, twentieth century Irish and British fiction, performance theory, gender studies, African literature in English, and crime fiction.
