Research Profile
Stuart Greene has been Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies since 2005. His research and teaching have focused on the relationship between writing and learning in higher education and the acquisition of literacy. This work has resulted in his edited publication, Teaching Academic Literacy (Lawrence Erlbaum Associates, 1999); a textbook, From Inquiry to Academic Writing; and articles in both Research in the Teaching of English and Written Communication.His current research focuses on the history of education, civil rights legislation, and minority opportunity in public schools. This new work has led to the publication of his edited volume, Making Race Visible: Literacy Research for Racial Understanding (Teachers College Press, 2003), for which he won the National Council of Teachers of English Richard A. Meade Award for Research in English Education. His edited volume, Literacy as a Civil Right: Reclaiming Social Justice in Literacy Teaching and Learning was published in 2008 and a new volume, Family Literacy: Complexities, Concerns, and Considerations, is forthcoming.Contact Information
