Research Profile

McNeil studies cognitive development, focusing on mechanisms that propel and constrain the development of quantitative reasoning, symbolic understanding, and problem solving. Her goal is to contribute to theoretical issues related to the construction and organization of human knowledge, as well as practical issues related to learning and instruction. McNeil’s work has been published in a number of top journals, including Child Development, Developmental Psychology, Cognitive Science, and Journal of Cognition and Development.
