Research Profile

Brown's scholarly interests are in the area of painting, drawing and printmaking. He recently received a grant from The Richard Driehaus Foundation. Brown's subject matter is inspired by African and African-American Folktales. With the use of icons and images from Black Popular Culture, Brown is able to create allegories that reference not only African-American folk culture but art history and contemporary culture.
