Research Profile
Fr. Nguyen uses images and abstract mark making of Eastern art in painting and drawing to present the connection between art and contemplation. Repetition of forms and images are utilized to portray the contrast between wholeness and fragmentation of life. His work has been shown at DePauw University in Indiana, University of Portland in Portland, Oregon, Divine Word College in Iowa and in Vietnam. The most recent work originated from an art-spirituality program funded by the Lilly Foundation. It includes 500 drawings done in Japan in conjunction with the practice of Zen sitting.
