Research Profile
Burgess Smyth's areas of interest and research include late-nineteenth and twentieth-century Irish writing, in particular the North; the postcolonial; modern Scottish writing; and partition. She is currently completing a study of the impact of partition on the modern Irish canon. Burgess Smyth has authored articles on the Northern dimensions of the Irish literary Revival; Irish Literature entry for the new Britannica. She is currently researching a new book on the break-up of Britain and modern writing.
