Mark Beudert

Research Profile

Beudert has been a leading operatic tenor on major stages worldwide since winning the Pavarotti Concorso Internationale in 1985. His repertoire embraces works from Monteverdi though Verdi and Puccini to Thomas Ades. He is also known for his work in oratorio, especially the Verdi Requiem, and on the concert platform, where he specializes in larger works such as Janacek's Zápisník zmizelého (Diary of One Who Vanished). He has also appeared on Broadway, starring in The Pirates of Penzance with Kevin Kline. He began teaching vocal technique and repertoire in 1995, and directing and producing opera in 2002. His current research focuses on the philosophy of performance. He is also General Director of the Eugene (OR) Opera.
