Research Profile
Spillman is a sociologist with special interests in cultural sociology, economic sociology, social theory, and comparative historical methods. She is the author of Nation and Commemoration: Creating National Identities in the United States and Australia (Cambridge U. P., 1997) and editor of Cultural Sociology (Blackwell, 2002) and chapters and articles on nationalism, collective memory, cultural theory, and causal reasoning. Her current research, for which she was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2001 and an A.S.A./N.S.F. Fund for the Advancement of the Discipline Award in 2003, investigates business associations. She teaches cultural sociology, economic sociology, and University Seminar.Contact Information
