Research Profile

MacKenzie's Teaching and Research interests include, but are not limited to, 17th century French literature, with special focus on Jansenism (Pascal, La Rochefoucauld, La Bruyere and Racine). He also works on French poetry generally. In addition to French literature, MacKenzie teaches courses on opera and on Louis XIV's Versailles. He regulary offers a seminar called "On Interpretation: the Art of Caressing Art" to first-year students.  A two time winner of prizes(Kaneb and Joyce) for excellence in undergraduate teaching, he has been chairing the Department of Music since 2007.
