Research Profile

Ayala's main academic focus is in American politics and public policy. He specializes in research on political participation, the US Senate, and democratic political theory. Ayala has published in Political Research Quarterly. One of his current projects investigates the role of state size in the development of the representational relationship in the US Senate. Ayala's other project involves collection of original survey data in order to investigate how organizational diversity impacts the way civic associations foster political participation.
