Research Profile
Kim's research interest lies in development studies and international economics with geographical focus on East Asia, Latin America, and Africa. His research typically combines holistic and quantitative analyses, based on fieldwork and consultancy experiences he had abroad. He published over 80 articles and book chapters as well as 13 books, including The Political Economy of Inequality (2000); Growth,Distribution and Political Change (1999); El Ecuador en el Mercado Mundial (1997); Acquiring, Adapting and Developing Technologies in Japan (1994); Industrial Policy and Development in S. Korea (1985); and Papers on the Political Economy of Tanzania (1979). He received grants and fellowships from the Rockefeller Foundation, Nacional Financiera in Mexico, Hudson Institute, the Agency for International Development, and Japan's Ministry of Education. He served as a co-editor for the Macmillan Press, as president of the Korea-America Economic Association, on Netherlands International Education Review Board, and on North American Economic and Financial Association Advisory Board.
