Acclaimed by the London Times for her "beautiful flowing sound" and "masterly interpretation", cellist Karen Buranskas has performed throughout the world as a soloist and chamber musician.  A first-prize winner in both the Concert Artists Guild Competition in New York City and the Aldo Parisot Competition in Brazil, Buranskas was awarded a Solo Recitalist grant by the National Endowment for the Arts.  She has performed recitals in venues such as Wigmore Hall in London, Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York, on the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series in Chicago, as well as in several prominent concert halls in Japan and Taiwan. As a recording artist, Buranskas has released two highly acclaimed discs for Centaur Records with the Notre Dame String Trio, featuring chamber works of David Diamond and Paul Hindemith. A recording of compositions for solo cello was released by Centaur Records in March 2008.  The disc which features compositions by Cassádo, Crumb, Hindemith, and Halsey Stevens has received critical acclaim.
