Research Profile

Sullivan’s research examines the consumption, saving, and borrowing behavior of poor households. A recent study investigates whether poor families can borrow to maintain well-being in the presence of variable income. Other work investigates how welfare and tax reforms have affected the well-being of poor families in the U.S. Sullivan is a research affiliate of the National Poverty Center. He was a recipient of the W. E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research Dissertation Award in 2003.
