Director of Undergraduate Studies

Research Profile

Flanigan's art focuses on the human figure in drawing and sculpture. His drawing is a personal, graphic response to the physical and psychological presence of another person. Light and dark enveloping space, the physicality of the body, and the individuality of the sitter, all enable specific human contact, and sometimes insight. Flanigan's sculpture is also figurative, but more public and monumental, devotional and liturgical. Recent works, Brother Andre, Christ the Teacher and The Seat of Wisdom, have been installed on campus. Flanigan also serves the Fort Wayne/South Bend Diocese as Chair of its Environment and Art for Worship Committee that guides the creation, renovation and preservation of Catholic worship space.
