Research Profile
Benn Torres examines the roles of genetic ancestry and genetic variation that may result in differences in disease prevalence between populations. Currently, she is interested in understanding why women of African descent have a higher prevalence of uterine fibroids relative to women from different geographical origins. Additionally, she has examined the biogeographical origins of people of African descent throughout the English-speaking Caribbean and plans to extend this research into Central and South America.
