Research Profile
Gilberto Cárdenas holds the Julian Samora Chair in Latino Studies and is Professor of Sociology. He has authored and edited several books and articles on immigration. He was the editor of a multi-volume series on migration and border studies published by CMAS Books & distributed by the University of Texas Press. Cárdenas is the series editor for Latino Studies Series, University of Notre Dame. He is a member of the President's Commission on White House Fellowships; the Advisory Council of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Gates Millennium Scholars Program; The Board of Directors of The Mexican American Legal and Educational Defense Fund; the Smithsonian National Board for Latino Initiatives; and others. He has been named thrice by Hispanic Business Magazine as one of the 100 most influential Latinos in the United States.
