Degrees
B.A., Harvard University; Ph.D., Emory University
Research Profile
Daniel Lende focuses on medical anthropology, the synthesis of biological and cultural anthropology, and applied anthropology. His research centers on behavioral health problems, particularly substance use and abuse. In Colombia his research examined: (1) Why do people compulsively use drugs? and (2) Why does Colombia have such low rates of drug use? He is expanding this approach to include heavy drinking, eating behavior, and preventive medicine in the US. See his blog at: http://neuroanthropology.wordpress.com/
