Research Profile
Leege works in the fields of American voting behavior, religion and politics, cultural politics, and the sociology of religion. He and collaborators published The Politics of Cultural Differences through Princeton University Press in October 2002. Leege has also published Rediscovering the Religious Factor in American Politics (M. E. Sharpe 1993), and Political Research: Design, Measurement, and Analysis (Basic Books 1974). He edited the 15-part Report Series of the Notre Dame Study of Catholic Parish Life, 1984-89, and The Missouri Poll, in addition to contributing numerous articles to professional journals and public fortnightlies. He has founded and directed social scientific research centers at three universities, served as program director for political science at the National Science Foundation and chair, Board of Overseers, American National Election Studies, and was founding director of the Hesburgh Program in Public Service at Notre Dame.
