Graff’s primary research project involves revising for publication his dissertation on labor and race in early American St. Louis. He presented a paper at the Society for Historians of the Early American Republic conference in July 2008 that addressed questions of race and violence as they relate to the boundaries of labor solidarity during the rapid commercialization and intense early industrialization of the United States in the 1830s.
