Research Profile
Della Rossa's research on nineteenth-century German women’s writing examines the role of “newspaper literature” in providing women a voice in the public sphere and the process by which women developed a literary consciousness. Specifically, she has published on the role of biography in the creation of a women's history and the function of literacy criticism in female "Bildung". She is currently working on the concept of the "female genius" in nineteenth-century Germany and the female allegorical figure of the "Austria" in Austrian cultural imagination.
