Research Profile

Prof. Aune specializes in the study of the New Testament in the context of Greco-Roman society and culture. He is currently at work on a commentary on the Testament of Solomon for De Gruyter and a book on Greco-Roman Culture and the New Testament for the Anchor Bible Reference Library, and a book on early Christian worship with Prof. Maxwell Johnson.  Aune has written or edited fifteen books and has written 85 articles and 100 book reviews. He was awarded a Fulbright visiting professorship at the University of Trondheim, Norway (1982-83), an Alexander von Humboldt Research Prize at the University of Tuebingen, Germany (1994-95), was inducted into the Norwegian Royal Academy (Det Kongelige Norske Videnskabers Selskab) in 2001, and was the Annual Professor at the Albright Institute for Archaeological Research in Jerusalem, Israel (2002-2003).
