Research Profile
Magnan-Park specializes in pan-Asian cinema with a theoretical engagement with cinematic sound, ethnicity, the diaspora, the transnational, and postcolonialism. He has published on Hong Kong and South Korean cinema in Post Script along with chapters in the following anthologies: The Politics of Community; New Korean Cinema; Hong Kong Film, Hollywood, and the New Global Cinema; Korean Wave; Towards Sustainable Economic and Security Relations in East Asia; Critical Filmography of World Cinema--Korea; and Chinese Connections. His has two manuscript projects. One centers on the internationalization of Hong Kong's gongfupian [martial arts films] and the other on the discourse of han [everlasting woe] in Korean cinema.
