Research Profile

Kaufman’s areas of specialization are the modern history of Lebanon and Syria and the Arab-Israeli conflict. He is the author of Reviving Phoenicia: The Search for Identity in Lebanon (London: I.B. Tauris, 2004) and of articles on Lebanese and Syrian nationalisms. He is currently working on a new project focusing on boundaries, territoriality, conflict, and identities in Lebanon, Syria, and Israel.
