Research Profile
Guisinger specializes in international relations, crisis diplomacy, and international political economy. Her dissertation, "Understanding Cross-Country Patterns in Trade Liberalization," focuses on diffusion processes, arguing that countries' trade protection policies are interdependent and thus highly dependent on the policies of peers and trading partners. In the area of diplomacy, her paper with co-author Alastair Smith, "Honest Threats: The Interaction of Reputation and Political Institutions in International Crises," was published in the Journal of Conflict Resolution.
