Author: Arts and Letters

“Everything in its Place: The Life and Works of Virgilio Piera” is the title of a new book by Thomas F. Anderson, associate professor of Romance languages and literatures at the University of Notre Dame.

The most comprehensive study to date of Piera, “Everything in its Place” is the first book to be written in English on this major 20th-century Cuban novelist, poet and dramatist. Drawing extensively on unpublished manuscripts, Anderson offers nuanced interpretations of Piera’s life in Cuba, bringing new insights into the literary, political and cultural influences of Piera’s works. It was published by Bucknell University Press.

Anderson specializes in 20th-century Latin American fiction and in the literature of the Hispanic Caribbean. He is a faculty fellow in Notre Dame’s Kellogg Institute for International Studies and is coordinator of the University’s Program in Iberian and Latin American Studies.
