Departmental Homepage:
Description:
Sociology is the systematic study of individuals in society - how individuals affect each other, how groups affect individuals, how individuals affect groups, and how groups affect other groups. Sociologists are interested in social structure and how that social structure influences behavior.
In addition to preparing students for graduate school, a degree in sociology also provides a useful background for students interested in business, community planning, law, medicine, architecture, and politics.
