Undergraduate Programs
Philosophy, Politics, and Economics
Description:
The minor in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics is designed for students and faculty with serious interests at the intersection of political theory, political philosophy, and economic theory. It aims to help students acquire some fluency in each of the disciplines, as well as provide a forum where all three disciplines can be brought to bear on common problems. PPE emphasizes close reading and writing and development of analytic skills. Students are encouraged to engage in undergraduate research and senior essays, and a high percentage of PPE graduates go on to advanced degrees.
The minor is 15 credits, with the Justice Seminar as the required core course. Normally students are drawn from one of the three disciplines, but students from other disciplines including science may apply. PPE is a very small minor, accepting only 16 students per year.
