Program of Liberal Studies

Departmental Homepage:

http://pls.nd.edu/

Description:

The Program of Liberal Studies (PLS) teaches the liberal arts through a three-year integrated course of study centered on the "great books" of the Western tradition. The program is structured around the Great Books seminar, which is complemented by tutorials in literature, philosophy, theology, history, the fine arts, and the natural and social sciences.

Because the Program develops such a broad skill set, PLS students often pursue a wide variety of careers in law, medicine, education, journalism, music, public service, and technology. Many students go on to perform a year or two of volunteer service following graduation.
