Description:
The Department of Classics studies the world of the ancient Greeks and Romans and provides instruction in the Greek and Latin languages, Greek and Latin literature, and the history, art, religion, philosophy, and archaeology of antiquity. The department is also the home of the Arabic Studies major, in which students learn modern standard Arabic and examine Islam, Arabic literature, and the history of the Middle East.
Students master critical thinking and writing skills prized in professional fields ranging from business and the world of technology to education, journalism, law, and government.
